Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix

Harry was hanging out in the park when his cousin Dudley appeared bullying Harry. Then some strange things happen that made them leave the park. When they reach the tunnel, they saw a dementor. Harry casts a Patronus charm on the Dementor. When they got home, Dudley was sent to the Hospital leaving Harry alone in their house. .Orr of the Phoenix members soon arrive to escort Harry to their secret headquarters at the Black family home, Number Twelve, Grimmauld Place in London. Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger enter their fifth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Meanwhile, Harry has been seeing into Voldemort's mind through his dreams. Harry immediately tells Dumbledore, who believes that Voldemort may have a connection to Harry's mind. Harry begins lessons with Professor Snape to close his mind in the event that Lord Voldemort should become aware of the connection between Harry's mind and his own. Hagrid's half-brother, the giant Grawp, assists Harry and Hermione to escape. Harry, Ron, and Hermione, with D.A. members Ginny Weasley, Neville Longbottom, and Luna Lovegood, fly to the Ministry of Magic. In the Hall of Prophecy, Harry and his friends discover a small glowing orb with Harry's name on it. When Harry retrieves it, he finds that it contains a prophecy about himself and Voldemort. The Death Eaters follow them and manage to capture Harry's friends, whom Malfoy threatens to kill if Harry does not hand over the prophecy. Harry's friends are freed, and the battle continues. A voice appears in Harry's head, taunting him to kill Lestrange. Harry attempts to attack him, but Voldemort disarms him. Before Voldemort can kill Harry, Dumbledore appears. Voldemort attempts to possess Harry, as Dumbledore looks on. The Ministry is forced to acknowledge its error, and Dumbledore and Harry are vindicated. Dumbledore then discusses with Harry the contents of the prophecy Voldemort wanted so badly, which states that "neither can live while the other survives"; therefore, Harry must either kill Voldemort or be killed by Voldemort.

Action or Strategy?

Computer Games are famous these days. You can almost see many computer shops offering different kinds of Computer Games. Two of the most famous genres are Action Games and Strategy Games. Action Games are of course, games that has actions and somewhat has violence. Examples of these games are “Counter Strike”, “Half-Life” and “Rainbow Six”. Strategy Games, on the other hand, are games that require strategies and due to its perspective, which is a typically in bird’s eye view, it is less violent. Examples of these games are “Warcraft III”, “Command and Conquer” and “Age of Empires”. On choosing which one is better, we have to consider some factors. One factor is the games speed. Different players choose their games depending on what speed they prefer. Although technically, the games speed can be adjusted, Action Games are more of a fast-paced game while Strategy Games are a slow-paced game. Another factor is the cost. The cost of the games depends on how long it is played. The more long the games is, the more you pay on computer shops which is paid depending on the hours you play or the more your electric bills cost higher. Being a fast-paced game, Action Games cost less because the games ends faster while strategy games cost more because it ends slower. Another factor is the gameplay itself. If you like games where it can enhance your thinking and where you can plan strategies and is unpredictable, then go for Strategy Games but if you like action-packed games where there are action everywhere and is based on how quickly you react then you should go for Action Games. One last factor is the player itself. Sometimes, the player isn’t good in strategies but can react quickly and is very alert. In addition, there are players who lack skill on reacting quickly and alertness but are good on making strategies. Overall, in choosing which one to choose, it is up to our own interest. But, it doesn’t mean that if you lack on making strategies then you can’t play Strategy Games and vice versa. We could explore different genres once in a while even if we are not good at it. After all, gaming is fun.

What Keeps Me Busy

There are many things that keeps me busy now. Almost all of these are leisure activites. First and foremost: Anime. Right now, I am watching different kinds of anime now. Almost all of them are dvd's and not from the television. Maybe because I like watching anime with thier real voices with subtitles and not dubbed in Filipino. Whenever I have time, I buy anime dvd's. Also, I can say that watching anime have been one of my hobbies even when I am just a child. Another thing that keeps me busy is playing the guitar ans listening to music. Honestly, I have just started playing the guitar a year ago because during the year before that, I have no interest whatsoevr ing guitar playing and even music. The only music that I only listen before was classical and jpop. But now, I think that I play and listen and to every kind of music except hip-hop, which I doubt that I will like. Another think that keeps me busy is arranging songs. Right now, I already arranged three songs to my own version. With the help from Guitar Pro, a computer program that plays notations, I was able to make my own versions of Cry, Only Reminds Me of You and With or Without You. At first, I am just making my own songs but I had some difficulty because I am just a beginner so I went first to making covers. Another thing that keeps me busy is computer games. One of the games that I am recently playiong is Warcraft III. Last but definitely not the least, studying. As as student, it is expected that I should prioritize my studies so I gave time on studying my lessons. That's all for now..Thanks for reading...

Where Am I?

uhmm..I wrote it in a first person perspective so here it is:


"The moment I stepped inside, I suddenly smell the cold air inside and also fell it rushing through my skin. Then I realized that I was in a well lighted room filled with tables and chairs. Some chairs are empty and some are occupied by people who are close to my age which I can hear, are chatting among themselves. Not so far from where I stand, I saw a fields filled with grass and trees which I can see through a transparent glass wall. When I looked at my right, I saw a white rectangular wooden frame attached to the wall. Inside that frame was a green colored board with some chalk marks on it. Then, when I looked towards my front, I saw the two small rectangular devices which I concluded that the ones producing the cold air. I looked up and saw the glassed rectangular objects that lighten up the room. I also saw some rotating circular objects with a blade-like object inside that spins."

So, can you guess where am I?

Why Am I in School?

I think that I am in school because it is where I build my whole being. I think that I am also here to study. In school, I get to learn many things and meet new people. I also think that I am here because I am studying to be something that I want to be. However, some times, I get to ask myself; what is the reason of my existence?

As of now, I am in a middle of a war between existence and essence that are fighting to get me. However, during the past years, I know that I just exist. Right now, I think that I am pulled to having an essence but being just existing is trying to pull me back. As of now, I am trying my best to have an essence by making my own decisions and not be controlled by someone.

Just like on a very famous game, I am trying my best to “level-up” and not be “level-gapped by others.” I know that I can do it if I do my best at school where I learn different things from many people and even from my mistakes.

Music Video Analysis

The first video that I have watched is “One” by Metallica. The music video features the bands, which are performing while clips of the movie “Johnny Got His Gun”. It can be clearly seen that the video is in black and white. The movie is about a man who is confined in a hospital due to injuries of some war. Just like any rock bands, the video puts more emphasis in the band performance. It features all the members of the band, who are performing on some sort of warehouse. I have chosen this video because it is one of Metallica’s famous songs and it ranked #8 on the Guitar World’s 100 Greatest Guitar Solos. My most favourite part on this video is during the last part of the video where the mood changes and the song become heavier and features Kirk Hammet, one of Metallica‘s guitarist who plays the guitar really good.



The second video that I watch is “November Rain” by Gun’s And Roses. The video entailed a couple being wed and interspersed by the band, performing in theatre with an orchestra. It also shows the band, who are drinking together in a pub. One of the best parts of the video is shown after Slash, their Lead Guitarist, who is acting as the ring bearer gave the ring to the couple and went out of the church to play the first guitar solo. During the latter part of the video, the wedding reception is shown where after some time, it rained which ruined the reception. After that part, another church scene is shown but instead of a wedding, a funeral scene is shown which shows the wife in a casket. The other best part of the video is when Slash plays another guitar solo on top of a grand piano.


The third video that I watch is “Always with Me, Always with You” by Joe Satriani. Although it is an instrumental song, I chose this because it is one of Satriani’s songs that made instrumental rock popular. The video is simple but great. The video just shows Satriani, along with his band, performing in the desert. It also shows a woman dancing slowly in the desert. The video also shows Satriani doing many guitar techniques like hammer-ons, bending, tapping and harmonics.



This three video that I watched are all classic rock songs even though they have different styles. “One” is the heaviest of them all. “November Rain” on the other hand is some kind of a classic rock and roll although the first part is quite slow. “Always with Me, Always with You” is typical slow instrumental rock. All they have in common is the all emphasize on band-performance rather than story. Even if the first two have other scenes than performance, it could be seen that the performance is more emphasized. In addition, all these three songs have reached the Billboard Top 100 during their times. Although these videos are old, it can be seen how the music scene has changed.

Hello! This is my first blog here. I am Albert Samaniego, an Engineering Student from De La Salle Canlubang and my current interest is about computers. Because this is my current interest, I will write a blog about it but this is just an excerpt from a book. Therefore, here it is.

Computers

According to the author of the book, every computer has three fundamental characteristics.

Speed – “…provide the processing speed to our fast paced society…”

Reliability – “Computers are extremely reliable…most errors supposedly made by computers are really human errors.”

Storage Capability – “…can store tremendous amounts of data which can be located and retrieve efficiently…”


According also to the author, computers have many uses. They are widely used in Education, Graphics, Retailing, Energy, Law Enforcement, Money, Agriculture, Government, at Home, on Medicine, Robotics, Human Connection, in Science, Connectivity, Training and Paperwork.

Computers have also three main components. According to the author:

“A computer system has three main components: hardware, software and people. The Equipment associated with a computer is called hardware. A set of instructions called software tells the computer what to do…”
